Our Mission
Our mission is to provide safe, dignified, and culturally responsive housing for women—including survivors of domestic violence, older women, and those at risk of homelessness—as well as First Nations Australians. We achieve this by combining innovative modular construction, strategic partnerships, and holistic wraparound services.
By focusing on the unique needs of these communities, we strive to create sustainable solutions that empower individuals to regain stability, independence, and hope for the future.
Case for Change
‘‘I have new friends. I feel supported. And all under the one roof’’
Housing4Change was founded by a small group of concerned individuals who witnessed Brisbane’s housing struggles following the 2011 floods. Homelessness was widespread, and many were in severe financial distress with little hope for relief.
Financial stress often leads to increased substance abuse and domestic violence, affecting both adults and children. Older people—particularly women—face added challenges when relying on pensions or social security payments without the security of home ownership or community housing. Private rentals rarely offer stability, and many so-called “affordable” options are last-resort accommodation that wholly inappropriate.
Our community has shown time and again that it can be remarkably generous for a worthy cause. Housing4Change believes that addressing these urgent housing issues is exactly such a cause, and we are determined to be a driving force for change.
